Ryan Kahro is a woman on a mission. As a longstanding member of the Wellington Halton Hills community, Ryan’s mission is to bring sustainable prosperity to the region, protecting both the people and the planet.
Ryan, a single mother of three, was born in Acton, grew up on a farm in Rockwood, and after living in both Caledon and Guelph, returned to Rockwood with her children.
She was destined to be a part of the green movement from birth, her birthday conveniently being April 22 – Earth Day! Her favourite birthday activity as a child was picking up garbage as part of Earth Day and she has been taking action to save the planet ever since. Her first vote cast at age 18 was for the Green Party. She believes their platform to be inclusive, both for people and for the planet. The values of the party and the platform are reflective of who she is.
Convinced of the strength of the Green Party movement, she was sure it would blossom and have made a huge difference by now.
Years later, here she is, with small children of her own, witnessing the world be on the brink of a climate disaster. As a caring, progressive and forward-thinking woman, Ryan knew that now was the time for her to step up and lead. She is inspired by this opportunity to lead us through the changes needed. We now have the science, resources, and education needed to support a political platform that can facilitate the execution of a healthy plan for the future of Wellington Halton Hills. One that will be sustainable and prosperous for our communities, our children and our grandchildren.
